Certainly, over the past year of Covid induced lifestyle changes what we might call “fashion” has seen some stunning shifts.
Will high heels, tailored pants, and briefcases become a distant memory? Let’s take a look at some of the projections we found in our research.
After months of sweats and loose clothing, we’re tending to reject anything too structured. Mixing tailored pants with sporty tops, silky tops with joggers and cargos creates a style that works in 2021.
Last year was definitely a year for sneakers, clogs, chunky soles, and slippers. Comfy translated into cool. As talk of going back to the office ramps up, don’t expect a surge back to high heels.
Hair accessories are having a huge comeback. Barrettes, claw clips, headbands, and scrunchies are camouflaging roots, scruffy ends, and growing out bangs. High-maintenance services that rely on a pro to apply are still on the back burner.
Initializing the closet cleanup. The lockdown was a perfect time for most of us to go through out closets, take stock, try on clothes, and reach a decision on what to keep or give to others. That same attitude carried over into make-up drawers, bathroom cabinets, and even the garage.
Elastic waistbands have led us to a new attitude. Slightly lower expectations mean that we’re allowing a binge or two and balancing it out with exercise. Fluid is our way of dress – looser, freer clothes hide the bump, bulge, and ripple.
Interestingly, healthy eating and exercise are even higher on our to-do list and we’re not so tough on ourselves in the process.
